Position: Social Media/ TikTok Intern

Description: The primary objective for this position is, with limited supervision, to perform varied and complex duties that assist Rainbows’ social media growth needs, specifically with our TikTok strategy. Develops and documents procedures for all activities. This position reports to the Community Education & Advocacy Manager and the Executive Director.

Schedule: 12-24 hours/week, 10am-4pm (flexible)

Minimum 12 hours a week; in office at least 2 days a week. Must be in-person Monday during the day, choosing Wednesday or Thursday for other in-person days. Remote Tuesdays and Fridays.

Start Date: September 2026 (flexible)

End Date: June/May 2027 (flexible)

Compensation: Unpaid; eligible for course credit or field placement hours.

Location: Evanston, IL. Hybrid with In-person element required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Add to current social media strategy considering target audiences and platforms;
• Research video trends based on alignment with strategy.
• Create and schedule daily/weekly videos for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube shorts.
• Create and/or revise flyers, brochures, and other materials;
• Attend events and meetings as needed;
• Help with tabling and other virtual and live events to increase visibility of the organization;
• Other relevant tasks as needed.

Experience/Skills Required:

• Must be a Junior/Senior Undergraduate Student or Graduate Student.
• Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
• Knowledge of social media platforms and experience researching relevant topics and scheduling posts; creative mind for post ideas
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-minded environment where role and/or tasks are frequently changing;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Office 365, required; experience with Metricool, Canva, Photoshop, or other media software, preferred;
• Related experience in communication, journalism, media, film/multimedia, marketing and/or advertising a plus.

Program Design Intern

Position: Program Design Intern

Description: The primary objective for this position is, with limited supervision, to perform varied and complex duties that assist Rainbows’ program growth needs. We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and artistically driven Program Intern to assist with curriculum development, caregiver engagement, facilitator resources, and graphic design. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit program development and is ideal for students in psychology, child development, public health, social work, graphic design, or other related fields. This position reports to the Program Manager (LSW) and Executive Director.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Design and support content creation (graphic design) for a variety of digital resources, activity books, and toolkits for facilitators and caregivers;
• Assist in the development and adaptation of age-appropriate SEL curriculum and informational materials related to grief and loss for children and youth ages 4–25;
• Research and design alternative group activities that align with curriculum goals, providing facilitators with creative and accessible options;
• Assist with data analysis of surveys from caregivers, youth, and facilitators to evaluate and strengthen programs;
• Research and stay current on trends and best practices in SEL, youth development, and mental health;
• Assist in the planning and moderation of Rainbows’ 5th Virtual International Conference;
• Represent Rainbows at virtual and in-person events and meetings, supporting outreach and organization visibility;
• Complete Rainbows’ training to become a Certified Rainbows Facilitator;
• Attend events and meetings as needed;
• Other relevant tasks as needed.

Experience/Skills Required:

• Junior/Senior undergraduate student or graduate student in graphic design, psychology, education, social work, child development, public health, or a related field.
• Lived experience, knowledge, and/or coursework in grief, trauma, or loss is a plus.
• Passion for youth advocacy, grief support/mental health, and SEL.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail.
• Strong creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to think flexibly and generate innovative solutions in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to conduct thorough research on current practices, trends, and data in child/youth mental health and education.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); experience with Canva, Photoshop, or other media design tools preferred.
• Interest in group facilitation; opportunity available to run or co-run a Rainbows peer support group during internship (optional).
