Kasia Janus

By day, Kasia Janus works as a Compliance Specialist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she has spent the past 15 years supporting researchers in navigating complex federal and state regulatory requirements.

Kasia is also a dedicated public advocate whose life was profoundly shaped by one of America’s most haunting unsolved crimes—the 1982 Tylenol murders. At just four years old, she lost her father, Adam Janus, along with her uncle and aunt, to cyanide-laced Tylenol capsules.

After decades of private grief and healing, Kasia began sharing her story to honor her family and raise awareness about the lasting impact of trauma. Her advocacy has been featured by CNN, NBC, Channel3000Now, Madison Magazine, the Daily Herald, and PBS’s Chicago Stories. She focuses on themes of resilience, remembrance, and trauma-informed care.

Kasia brings empathetic, thoughtful, and collaborative energy to the board. She is especially passionate about the mission of Rainbows, having experienced firsthand how grief and trauma shape young lives. She believes deeply in the power of community and storytelling to heal.

When she’s not working or attending board meetings, you can find Kasia doing yoga, traveling, or spending time with her family, friends, and animals.

Fun fact: Kasia is a proud babcia (grandma in Polish) — and absolutely loves the role!
