We are excited to launch the #Rainbows4Rainbows Youth Grief Awareness Challenge!

Here’s how it works: film yourself doing a backbend, share a brief message about the importance of acknowledging and supporting grieving children, and tag three friends to join the challenge! Can’t do a backbend? You’re not alone! Grab a friend to literally support you or come up with your own way to make #Rainbows4Rainbows.

Together, we can spread awareness, spark conversations, and remind kids that it’s okay to grieve.

Committed to creating a community and providing resources that empower youth to navigate loss and uncertainty.

About Us

Since 1983, Rainbows has supported youth navigating grief of all kinds, such as death, divorce, incarceration, abandonment and many others, through facilitated peer groups within their communities.

What We Do

Rainbows for All Children trains adult volunteers in community-based sites such as schools, faith-based organizations, libraries or community centers to lead age-specific support groups for youth, ages 3-18, who are grieving from some type of loss. These groups provide a safe environment that encourages communication while identifying, navigating and discussing difficult feelings that accompany loss.

Why We Do It

Over 68% of youth living in the U.S. will experience the absence of a family member during their childhood. Children who experience the trauma and grief associated with losing a family member are at an increased risk for:

  • Learning, emotional and behavioral issues
  • Physical and mental health problems
  • Substance use disorder
  • Aggression and destructive behaviors

Who We Serve

Rainbows programs assist youth grieving the absence of a family member as a result of death, separation or divorce, incarceration, deportation, deployment, abandonment, significant illness or any other life-altering, traumatic event.
